Pullman Bali Legian Beach Review

Pullman Bali Legian Beach hotel tour: gardens, hotel buildings and the ocean

Pullman Bali Legian Beach gave us a convenient base for a family holiday built around swimming, beach walks and time exploring the neighbourhood. The ocean was just across the road, there were two different pool areas within the grounds, and restaurants, shops, massage salons and a useful laundry were close enough to reach on foot.

We stayed as a family of four in July 2026. What we appreciated most was being able to combine the facilities of a five-star hotel with the freedom to step outside for everyday things. We could have breakfast beside the garden, spend time by the pool, walk to the beach and head out for a meal without organising transport for every part of the day.

This review brings together our experience of the hotel's location, grounds, pools, food, accommodation and surrounding area. It also includes the less polished details: the road between the hotel and the beach, the age rule at the infinity pool, and an issue in one of our rooms that the staff resolved quickly.

Pullman Bali Legian Beach at a glance

Accor lists Pullman Bali Legian Beach as a five-star hotel. The classification describes the property; the observations below describe our own stay.[1]

Part of the stayWhat to expect from our experience
SettingA hotel in the lively Kuta–Legian beachfront area, with gardens inside the grounds.
Beach accessThe beach is opposite the hotel, across a coastal road.
SwimmingA garden pool, an adjoining children's pool and an elevated infinity pool.
Infinity pool accessThe sign during our stay permitted individuals “above 12 years old”.
BreakfastA varied buffet at Montage, with Western, Asian and Indonesian choices.
DinnerA themed buffet every evening, with a different theme from one night to the next.
Accommodation we usedTwo spacious suites; our experiences are described in the room section below.
Nearby conveniencesRestaurants, shops, two independent massage salons and next-day laundry.
Best fit, in our viewA holiday combining hotel facilities with beach time and easy outings on foot.

Our overall impression: Pullman worked well as a comfortable base in a busy, walkable part of Bali. Its location, pool areas and breakfast were the strongest parts of our stay. It is less suited to someone imagining a secluded resort with uninterrupted access from the gardens to a private beach.

Location: a walkable base between Kuta and Legian

The hotel is on Jalan Melasti No. 1, between the Kuta and Legian beachfront areas.[1] Its location makes a practical difference because so much of an ordinary holiday can happen nearby. Restaurants, cafés, small shops and local services are within walking distance.

For our family, that meant an outing did not have to become a major excursion. We could leave for a meal, take a short walk or deal with laundry, then return to the hotel for a swim or a break. It was easy to spend some time on the property without feeling tied to it for the entire day.

The setting is lively rather than remote. Outside the grounds, there is a busy beachfront neighbourhood; inside, the garden paths link the accommodation buildings, restaurant and swimming areas. That combination was more useful to us than being somewhere isolated with little nearby.

The beach is opposite the hotel, not inside its grounds

The most important location detail is straightforward: there is a road between the entrance and the sand. The hotel faces the ocean, but you do not walk directly from its garden onto the beach.

We still found the beach easy to reach. We could go over for a walk or some time beside the sea and return without arranging a car. The road crossing is part of each trip, though, including when carrying towels and beach bags or walking with children.

The beachfront services are also separate from the hotel. The loungers, umbrellas and local businesses along the shore belong to the surrounding beach scene, not to a private Pullman beach area.

The hotel grounds: gardens, shared spaces and an easy daily routine

The garden forms the centre of the property. Paths connect the accommodation buildings with the restaurant and pools, with lawns, palms and planting between them. Those shared spaces are an important part of the stay, not simply a backdrop to the room balconies.

We used the grounds throughout the day: walking to breakfast, moving between the swimming areas and returning to the room between outings. The layout made it easy to combine a few different activities without turning each one into a separate plan.

For a family holiday, that was a useful balance. There was space to walk and spend time outside without leaving the property, while the beach and neighbourhood remained close. On a day with no sightseeing planned, we still had different places to spend time rather than only the room and one pool deck.

After dark, the illuminated paths and building entrances gave the gardens a different character. The hotel remained somewhere we enjoyed walking through in the evening, whether returning from outside or staying on the property for dinner.

Swimming pools: the garden pool and ocean-facing infinity pool

Pullman has two main pool areas: the garden pool with an adjoining children's pool, and the infinity pool on the third floor. The children's pool is a separate part of the family swimming area, which explains why descriptions sometimes count three pools rather than two.[4]

Garden pool: convenient for family swimming

The garden pool is the main swimming option for families with younger children. The smaller children's pool sits alongside it, and the restaurant and accommodation buildings are nearby.

We liked how easily pool time fitted around the rest of the day. A swim could follow breakfast, precede a walk outside or fill a few hours between other activities. Returning to the room or stopping for something to eat was straightforward.

There is also a bar serving this pool area, and the hotel supplies towels. A particularly useful detail was that we could take those towels to the beach, not just use them within the grounds. Moving between the pool and the shore did not require a second set of towels.

Infinity pool: ocean views from the third floor

The infinity pool offers a different setting, with views towards the Indian Ocean and the adjoining IP Bar on the terrace. It became one of our favourite places at the hotel, especially later in the afternoon.

The view is one of its main attractions. You can spend time looking towards the coast regardless of the outlook from your own room. Around sunset, the terrace also provides a place to stay for a drink rather than leaving the hotel to find an ocean view.

The infinity pool sign during our stay permitted individuals “above 12 years old”. We use the wording printed on the notice rather than interpreting it as an explicit allowance for twelve-year-olds.

For families, the distinction is important. Younger children have the garden pool and adjoining children's pool, while older children can also use the upper pool. The two areas are therefore not interchangeable for every family.

What we appreciated was having two genuinely different settings: the garden for family swimming and the upper terrace for the ocean-facing view. That variety helped the hotel feel like somewhere to spend part of the day, rather than only a place to return to at night.

POOL ACCESS

Our visit and the current description

The sign during our July 2026 stay said “FOR ADULTS ONLY” and permitted individuals “above 12 years old”. The current official hotel website describes the infinity pool as adults-only. Confirm the applicable age rule with the hotel before booking for a family. [4]

The beach: walks, surfing and a simple lounger setup

Once across the road, we had easy access to the stretch of beach between the Kuta and Legian areas. There were surfers, people walking along the shore, umbrellas, loungers and local businesses nearby.

We used the beach for walks and time beside the ocean. The waves could be strong, so for relaxed swimming as a family we preferred the hotel pools. Having the beach nearby was still a major advantage: enjoying the coast did not depend on spending the day swimming in the sea.

For a place to sit, we paid about US$5 for two loungers and one umbrella. This was a rental from a local beach operator, separate from our hotel stay. With hotel towels brought across from the property, it gave us a straightforward way to spend some time by the water with shade and somewhere to leave our beach things.

The convenience was in being able to come and go. We did not have to commit to a full beach day: a walk, some time under the umbrella and a return to the hotel worked just as well. The pool and beach complemented each other rather than competing for the same part of the holiday.

One pleasant detail from our July visit was that we did not encounter mosquitoes, either on the beach or within the hotel grounds. That was our experience of this particular stay, and it made evenings outside comfortable.

Breakfast at Montage

Breakfast was served at Montage, the hotel's main restaurant beside the garden pool. It became a regular part of our morning routine before heading to the beach, spending time around the hotel or going out for the day.

The buffet included hot dishes, cold options, salads, fruit, pastries, drinks and a granola station. There was a mix of familiar Western breakfast choices and Asian and Indonesian food, which gave us more variety than a single style of breakfast would have done.

Enough choice for different appetites

The main benefit for our family was that everyone could put together something different. A lighter breakfast of fruit and granola sat alongside more substantial hot options, and there were local flavours to try as well as familiar choices.

Over several mornings, that range mattered. We could change what we ate instead of repeating the same plate every day. It also made breakfast easy for a family with different preferences, without needing to agree on one kind of meal.

The food was spread across several stations. Hot dishes were only one part of the selection, with fruit, cold food and lighter choices adding their own variety. The granola station was a useful extra, especially on mornings when we wanted something less substantial.

A useful connection to the garden and pool

The restaurant's setting contributed to the experience. Breakfast felt connected to the garden rather than separate from the rest of the hotel. Afterwards, it was easy to return to the room, move towards a pool or head outside.

We enjoyed the buffet and its variety. That is our assessment of the breakfasts we had, rather than a claim that every guest will rank the food in the same way. For us, it worked well as a dependable start to a family holiday day.

Dinner: a different buffet theme every evening

Montage organises a themed dinner buffet every evening, with a different theme from one night to the next. The programme includes seafood, meat-focused evenings, Asian dishes and other cuisines.[5]

This gives dining at the hotel more variety than repeating a general buffet each night. A seafood-focused evening offers something different from a grill or Asian-food theme, so staying in for dinner does not necessarily mean the same meal each time.

The surrounding restaurants add another layer of choice. We were not limited to hotel dining, but nor did we need to leave the property every evening. The combination suits a stay where some nights are spent out in the neighbourhood and others are kept simple within the hotel.

Our experience of breakfast is more detailed than our assessment of the dinner programme, so we would not rank individual dinner themes here. The practical advantage is having a changing programme available alongside the restaurants nearby.

Pool bars, welcome drinks and our ALL Platinum benefits

Having a bar beside the infinity pool made the terrace a place for more than swimming. We could stay for a drink and enjoy the view without moving to another part of the hotel. The garden pool also has a bar, keeping both swimming areas convenient for a longer break.

The IP Bar menu adds 21% for tax and service charges.[6] For example, a hypothetical item listed at IDR 100,000 would total IDR 121,000 after that addition. That is a useful distinction between the number beside an item and the final amount on the bill.

During our stay, we held ALL Accor Platinum status and received complimentary breakfast. We also received four welcome drinks, and we could choose any drink from the poolside menu rather than being limited to a small selection.

These benefits made a noticeable difference to the value of our own stay. Breakfast covered a daily part of the holiday, while the drinks were a pleasant addition to our time around the pool. They are the benefits we actually received, not a promise about every booking or family arrangement.

Our rooms: spacious suites for a family of four

We stayed in a Superior Suite and a Junior Family Suite, both approximately 85 m². The extra space was useful for luggage, breaks between outings and giving everyone somewhere to spend time beyond the main bed. The hotel's published descriptions confirm the approximate floor areas and living spaces.[2] [3]

Superior Suite

Our Superior Suite had a separate bedroom and living area. For the children, two additional beds had been provided as extra beds, rather than regular single beds forming part of a dedicated family arrangement.

The space was its main strength. We had room to unpack and relax, and the separate living area made the accommodation practical for a longer family stay. The less impressive part was the condition: the furniture and fittings in this particular apartment were quite old.

There was also noticeable humidity when we arrived. We reported it to reception, and the team quickly brought a dehumidifier. After that, the humidity problem disappeared.

We appreciated that response because it addressed the issue rather than leaving us to live with it. The furniture still felt dated, however. Our impression of this suite was therefore a mix of useful space, an effective response from staff and an interior that would benefit from updating.

Junior Family Suite

The Junior Family Suite we stayed in had recently been renovated. Its furniture, finishes and equipment looked practically new, and the interior felt fresh and comfortable.

It had a king-size bed for us and two regular single beds for the children in the living area. That is not the same as a separate children's bedroom: the lounge also becomes their sleeping space. For our family of four, though, the arrangement worked well, with individual beds and enough room for our belongings.

The balcony was another highlight. It had our favourite view of the stay, and we enjoyed spending time there. This describes the particular suite we occupied, rather than every room in that category.

Quiet nights in both of our rooms

Both suites were quiet during our stay. We did not have problems with nighttime noise in either one.

Rooms facing a busy road may differ from those we occupied; our quiet nights describe only our own two suites.

Our room section concerns only the accommodation we actually used. We would not extend the refurbishment of our Junior Family Suite to a claim that the entire hotel has been renovated.

ROOM CHOICE

Two suites, two different experiences

Both suites gave us useful space. Our older Superior Suite needed a dehumidifier; our renovated Junior Family Suite had two regular single beds in the living area. Ask about the actual room layout and refurbishment when booking.

Staying with children: more than just the room layout

The combination of the garden pool, adjoining children's pool, varied breakfast and easy access to the beach made the hotel practical for our family. We could spend part of a day on the property and still go out for a short walk or a meal without much organisation.

For families with younger children, the garden swimming area is particularly important. During our stay, the infinity pool sign permitted individuals “above 12 years old”; families should confirm the applicable age rule with the hotel.

The hotel also has a Kids Club programme. Its published activities include crafts, traditional games and introductions to Balinese culture, including dance.[7] This is part of the hotel's wider family offering; our firsthand assessment here is centred on the facilities we used and filmed, rather than a review of every children's activity.

Outdoor movie nights in the garden

In the evening, the hotel organises outdoor film screenings in the garden, with bean-bag seating and snacks available nearby. The hotel describes this gathering area as The Hub.[8]

It provides another option after dinner without having to leave the grounds. Between the cinema, restaurant, garden paths and nearby streets, an evening here can be quiet and simple or include a short outing.

Nearby massage salons, laundry and everyday services

The neighbourhood deserves a place in a hotel review because it affected how convenient our stay felt. Restaurants and shops were useful, but two other services made a particular difference.

Two independent massage salons close to the hotel

There are two massage salons near the hotel, offering treatments at attractive prices. They are independent local businesses, not part of Pullman.

Having them close by made a massage easy to fit around a beach visit or an evening meal. It did not require a separate journey or a large part of the day. For someone who enjoys using local services as well as hotel facilities, that proximity is a genuine advantage of the location.

Laundry ready the following day

There is also a laundry nearby, where we could leave our clothes and collect them the following day.

This was especially useful during a longer family holiday. We could drop off a bag, continue with our plans and return on foot when it was ready. It turned an ordinary travel chore into a short errand rather than something that interrupted the day.

Together with the restaurants, cafés and small shops, these services meant we could enjoy the hotel without relying on it for everything. That was an important part of the appeal for us.

LOCAL SERVICES

Separate from the hotel

The massage salons, laundry and beach loungers described here were independent businesses. Prices and availability relate to our visit.

Is Pullman a good choice for a five-star hotel stay in Bali?

For a holiday combining hotel time with a walkable beachfront neighbourhood, it worked well for us. We valued the garden and infinity pools, breakfast at Montage, the ability to walk to the shore and the useful services close by.

It is not the same kind of stay as a secluded beach retreat. The road crossing is real, the surrounding area is busy, and the beach facilities we used were operated independently. Those features are part of the setting rather than details hidden by the five-star classification.

The condition of the accommodation also deserves an honest place in the assessment. We enjoyed our renovated Junior Family Suite, while the older Superior Suite was less impressive. The hotel's strengths were not enough to make every detail perfect, but the effective service response and the wider facilities mattered too.

For our family, the overall appeal was the balance: enough within the hotel to spend time there comfortably, and enough outside to make short outings easy. That is the reason we would consider it for this kind of Bali holiday.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pullman Bali Legian Beach a five-star hotel?

Yes. Accor lists it as a five-star hotel.[1] Our review assesses the actual stay, including the pools, food, location, service and accommodation, rather than treating that classification as our own review score.

Does the hotel have direct beach access?

The beach is directly opposite, but a coastal road separates the hotel entrance from the sand. It is a short outing on foot, not a walk directly from the hotel garden onto a private beach.

Can children use the infinity pool?

The sign during our stay read “FOR ADULTS ONLY” and said individuals “above 12 years old” were permitted to enter. Confirm the applicable rule with the hotel before relying on access for a child. Younger children could use the garden pool and adjoining children's pool.

Can hotel towels be taken to the beach?

Yes, we could take the hotel's towels with us. Our beach loungers were rented separately: about US$5 for two loungers and one umbrella from a local operator.

What was breakfast like?

We enjoyed the variety at Montage. The buffet combined Western, Asian and Indonesian options, with hot food, cold dishes, fruit, pastries, drinks and a granola station.

Does the hotel offer different dinners each evening?

Yes. Montage's evening buffet has a different theme from one night to the next, including seafood, meat-focused evenings, Asian food and other cuisines.[5]

Is the surrounding area convenient without a car?

For nearby meals and everyday errands, we found it convenient on foot. Restaurants, shops, two independent massage salons and a laundry with next-day collection were close to the hotel.

Our final verdict

Pullman Bali Legian Beach suited the way we wanted to spend our family holiday: swimming, walking to the beach, enjoying a varied breakfast and stepping outside for food and local services. The infinity pool and its ocean-facing terrace were particular highlights, while the garden pool provided the main family swimming area.

There are compromises, including the road between the hotel and the beach and the older condition of some accommodation we experienced. But as a base for enjoying this busy part of Bali, the combination of facilities and location worked well.

We would consider Pullman for a comfortable, convenient stay with plenty nearby — rather than for complete seclusion. The photographs and hotel tour bring together the gardens, pools, breakfast, suites and actual route to the sand.
